Dear Acheson,

C. C.

With reference to your letter 13799/33 of the

16th October regarding the two vacancies for Assistant Government

Marine Surveyors (Engineer Surveyors) for Hong Kong, we are

arranging to carry out the procedure outlined therein, except

that we have eliminated from the field of candidates all those

retrenchees who are over 40, since this is the maximum age

limit for candidates for appointment as Engineer and Ship

Surveyors to the Board of Trade, and Hole has told us he wants

men who are under 35 for Hong Kong. We have written to-day to

the Board of Trade and Hole, and hope to interview the candidates

on the 7th November as tentatively arranged.

A. B. ACHESON, ESQ.

Yours sincerely,

མཁན་་
